Addressing Violence from the Inside: A Session with THRIVE at Cook County Jail
The Therapeutic Healing Recovery Initiative for Vitality and Empowerment program (THRIVE) at the Cook County Jail serves women who suffer from addiction and seeks to establish thought patterns and habits that prevent future substance use. THRIVE’s hopeful, yet grounded, holistic approach is aimed towards women with non-violent drug-related charges who have a history of substance abuse, trauma and/or mental illness, and the program provides them with Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), individual and group counseling. The program also provides psycho-educational groups focused on parenting, anger management, domestic violence, mental illness and substance abuse, and re-entry planning among other services. Get a unique opportunity to participate directly in a THRIVE session at this Lab that takes you inside Cook County Jail. Then, be part of a small-group discussion, hearing the women's stories and plans for the future in their own words.
