    LAB - Labs bring together small groups for an exclusive, first-hand look into what happens behind the scenes at some of the most innovative companies, community leaders and institutions around Chicago.

    Argonne National Laboratory is a multidisciplinary science and research center that has, since its founding at the University of Chicago in the 1940s, has worked together with other universities, industries and national laboratories to push science and engineering forward. Chicago Ideas will provide bus trips back and forth to Argonne, where attendees will meet and hear from the Argonne scientists who invented an effective and environmentally safe technology to wick away spilled oil and other petroleum products from waterways. Take a tour of the research areas where the Oleo Sponge was developed and tested.

    *Must be 15 and older to attend. Closed-toe shoes required, long pants needed, no sleeveless shirts, safety glasses will be provided where necessary. Special application for foreign born guests, need to fill out two weeks in advance minimum.
