Beer! A Sensory Exploration of the Past, Present, and Future of the World's Oldest Beverage
One of the world’s oldest beverages, beer is a cultural force that has the power to build community. It’s also a delicious, sensory-based experience that goes beyond just our taste buds. Learn more about both aspects of beer at this Lab with two of Chicago's newest, and oldest, cultural institutions: the Chicago Brewseum and the Field Museum. First, hear about the museums’ pioneering collaboration from Liz Garibay and Randy Mosher of the Brewseum and Megan Williams and Jaap Hoogstraten of the Field Museum. Then, go on a multi-sensory exploration of beer with Mosher, the author of numerous books on beer tasting. Learn how certain pours and other movements can impact the smell and flavor of beer, as well as how tasting beer—or anything else for that matter—leads to richer understanding of our often-hidden inner life.
