Build-a-Lamp Workshop with Chicago Women in Trades
Learn to construct a lamp from scratch in this super-tactile Lab that will be fun for electrical newbies and experienced home-improvement experts alike. Pipe fitters, plumbers, carpenters and electricians from Chicago Women in Trades—which works to increase women’s participation in skilled, well-paying professions that are traditionally dominated by men—will give you hands-on instruction on building your own lamp. Meanwhile, you’ll hear from local tradeswomen about how you can support women in trade work and be given your own “toolbox” that will help you advocate for more gender equality in your profession, no matter what it is.
