    Journalism + You = Power

    Tuesday, Oct 17, 2017 9:00 - 11:00 AM @ Public Narrative
This event is over! Please check the 2021 schedule.
LAB - Labs bring together small groups for an exclusive, first-hand look into what happens behind the scenes at some of the most innovative companies, community leaders and institutions around Chicago.

Did you know that in Chicago, there is a rich news ecosystem outside the mainstream outlets?

At this interactive Lab, you’ll learn how the media can be a powerful agent in changing the public narrative. We’ll dive into not only the importance of journalism, but also how to go about effectively communicating with a social media presence.

We will cover how journalists work, how to discern #FakeNews, and help you put together a real news network in Chicago. You’ll become “news literate” and learn how to discern the code words that indicate stories that have been well reported. You’ll discover what you don’t know about the more than 200 news outlets in Chicago. Two lucky participants will also win a free yearlong subscription to Public Narrative’s Chicago Media Guide, which covers media outlets in the Midwest.
