YOUTH LAB - Reserved for CIW YOU(th), Youth Labs bring together small groups of students for an exclusive, first-hand look into what happens behind the scenes at some of the most innovative companies, community leaders and institutions around Chicago.

The nitty-gritty details of government work might seem a bit boring on the surface, but they have profound and exciting implications on life across Chicago. Discover how architects, urban planners, real estate brokers and lawyers at the Cook County Bureau of Asset Management work together to plan out the future of the city. At this lab, students will get a hands-on presentation about the redevelopment plan for the old John H. Stroger Hospital in which they’ll make recommendations for the future occupants of the massive site. Come learn how Chicago’s local government works and find out how you can help make your neighborhood awesome!
