Lab: Preparing People with Disabilities for Success in the Job Market
More than 81 percent of adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD) do not have paid jobs in their communities. Best Buddies (one of the world’s largest organizations dedicated to ending the social, physical and economic isolation people living with IDD) is changing that right here in Chicago (their employees have a 93 percent retention rate). This engaging Lab will first give you a foundation for working with adults with IDD. Then, you and a group of young adults with IDD will work through a round of networking, an elevator pitch workshop, and a mock interview. You’ll learn the unique skills that individuals with an IDD bring to the table, and set them up with the tools they need to achieve their dreams.
Must be 21 or older, and provide valid ID.
