Lab: Intro to Sustainability: The Urban Food Cycle
Eating and drinking well doesn’t have to mean your meal comes with a heavy carbon footprint. In this hands-on Lab, the folks at the World of Whirlpool and the Urban Canopy will come together to show you how to choose and grow herbs that will thrive in your home. Urban Canopy founder Alex Poltorak will share the essentials of composting, Urban Canopy's CSA lead Emily Cross will show you how to transplant to use fresh herbs year round. After potting your herbs, Radical Creator and Chef Alia Dalal will show you how to use and preserve your homegrown herbs in your cooking, as well as compost food scraps. You will walk away with a deeper understanding of the food cycle and how you can do your part to make it more sustainable.
