Placemaking in the Park: How Culture Impacts Legacy

    Friday, Aug 02, 2019 6:00 - 7:20 PM @ Douglas Park
This event is over! Please check the 2021 schedule.
CONVERSATION - Conversations are panel discussions that provide an in-depth, up-to-the-minute look at a single topic. Featuring three to four thought leaders and an expert moderator, Conversations consist of a 60-minute discussion, followed by 15 minutes of audience q-and-a.

This is a FREE event; grab a ticket so we know to expect you.

In this experience (with a block party vibe and BBQ!) participants will explore the tangled web of culture that gives a place its character, from its art to its food to its infrastructure. In a mix of conversations from metropolitan planning experts and performances from local artists (including some firefighters doing hip-hop), we’ll unearth the ways that urban planners and community stakeholders work alongside neighborhood residents build on the entirety of a place’s ecology as they develop its future.

Who you'll hear from: Blaise B., Firehouse Community Arts Center, New Covenant Community Development Corporation, North Lawndale Community Coordinating Council, North Lawndale Restorative Justice Community Court, and UCAN.
