Labs bring together small groups for an exclusive, first-hand look into what happens behind the scenes at some of the most innovative companies, community leaders and institutions around Chicago.
Free Spirit Media is working to expand the definition of media, providing education and access in media production and journalism to nearly 700 youth from under-resourced communities annually. Join Founder & Executive Director Jeff McCarter and The Chicago Community Trust at Nichols Tower—the newly restored Homan Square architectural icon—for a session that focuses on journalism as storytelling. The workshop will be facilitated by Free Spirit Media staff members and youth participants Jeff, Chelsea, Brey', Cheyenne and Shé. You’ll create civic-minded, grassroots journalism that engages your community and creates cross-neighborhood connections.
