Bring History to Life with Statue Stories

Tuesday, Oct 17, 2017 2:00 - 4:00 PM @ Maggie Daley Park District Field House
This event is over! Please check the 2017 schedule.
    Lab
Labs bring together small groups for an exclusive, first-hand look into what happens behind the scenes at some of the most innovative companies, community leaders and institutions around Chicago.

Using drama, humor and location technology, Statue Stories Chicago–developed in collaboration with the Chicago Park District–breathes new life into the city’s marvelous public art collection. Chicago's celebrated actors, writers and theatres have united to give voice to iconic statues across the city, funded by The Richard H. Driehaus Foundation.

At this Lab, participants will go on a short walking tour of Chicago Statues, including Cloud Gate and The Lions and learn the history of the project with Julia Bachrach. They'll get to experience three types of creative writing - monologues with MT Cozzola, poetry with Quraysh Ali Lansana and social media tweets with Jessie Jury. Get ready to learn about the history in your own backyard and engage in a creative exercise to bring that history to life.
