Story Circles Workshop with Victory Gardens Theater and Grace House
Learning the stories of those around us enables us to create art that illuminates the struggles and triumphs of the people in our communities. Playwright Boo Killebrew did just that when she created the new Victory Gardens play Lettie, interviewing members of Chicago organizations like Grace House, a program of St. Leonard's Ministries, which provides interim housing, counseling, and other support for women leaving the prison system. At this community-building Lab, learn about the Story Circle technique Killebrew used when she wrote Lettie and examine how sharing stories can create powerful art. Then break out into small groups and use Story Circles to learn more about your fellow members of the Chicago Ideas Community, including participants who are also residents of Grace House.
Wear comfortable shoes, no high heels, we will be moving.
