Labs bring together small groups for an exclusive, first-hand look into what happens behind the scenes at some of the most innovative companies, community leaders and institutions around Chicago.

The Legal Assistance Foundation (LAF) fights for people who are living in poverty or otherwise vulnerable, securing their rights to economic stability, affordable housing, personal safety, fair working conditions, and basic healthcare. Get a look at life from the shoes of one of the people LAF helps every day at this interactive role-playing Lab. An individual exercise in empathy, you’ll be given resources and then asked to make decisions while facing issues like unfair evictions and barriers to your children’s education, and come away with a deeper understanding of the choices people in poverty make and how legal aid can have a drastic impact.
