    Thursday, Aug 01, 2019 5:30 - 6:30 PM @ Washington Park
This event is over! Please check the 2021 schedule.
TALK - Talks are 90-minute electrifying, action-inspiring onstage programs, featuring four to six world class thought leaders who each present ideas on a single theme through either an individual presentation or a one-on-one conversation with a host.

This is a FREE event; grab a ticket so we know to expect you.

This part-poetry slam, part-oral history with After School Matters Youth will explore the 1919 race riots in Chicago and their lasting impact on segregation and institutionalized racism in the city. At the end of the event, we’ll unveil a public installation in conversation with pieces of art from the 1960s that tell the story of the South Side, from the Civil Rights Movement to today.
