An Elective is an intimate masterclass that dives into a single subject led by an expert in that field. Featuring one or two instructors, an Elective consists of a 60-90 minute lesson—complete with reading lists and breakout groups in unique spaces or classroom-like settings.

Federal prosecutors play an integral role in how the criminal justice system functions. Faced with situations ripped from the headlines, they make dozens of critical decisions every day. As former Federal Prosecutor Andrew Polovin has discovered in his role, learning to trust your gut can be a powerful tool for accomplishing your goals in a constantly evolving work environment. We’re going to show you how.

    Who is this Elective for?

Anyone who faces constant fluctuation as a condition of their work (or life) and has to make quick decisions on the fly—or anyone who loves a good courtroom story.

    What will you learn?

Using an interactive, conversational method of presentation, students will explore the ethical challenges faced by prosecutors, how they make on-the-spot decisions with less than perfect information, how their own biases might impact their decision-making, and what we can learn from court cases about trusting our guts on uncertain ground.

    How should you prepare?

We’ll send you a few reading materials after you register, but our discussion will focus on real-life stories and decisions.
