    LAB - Labs bring together small groups for an exclusive, first-hand look into what happens behind the scenes at some of the most innovative companies, community leaders and institutions around Chicago.

    The Future of Diabetes Research, Innovation and Technology

    Lou Philipson, MD, PhD Director of the Center and Christopher Rhodes, PhD, Research Director will kick off the tour with a few words, then we will have our lab research, post-docs and other physician-scientists guide small groups in ?hands-on? interactive stations:
    1. Visualize islet cells that produce insulin
    2. Movies of insulin granules in the cells
    3. DNA sequencing display/monogenic diabetes
    4. Show actual zebrafish diabetes/islet study
    5. Computer image of immune T cells invading a mouse islet
    6. Fat cells in a dish
    7. CJR lab ? equipment to evaluate how insulin is made
