    Director of Strategic Partnerships and Development

    Chicago Ideas is looking for a Director of Strategic Partnerships and Development who can continue to build upon Chicago Ideas’ reputation as a top convener of global thinkers and innovators with programming that is accessible to everyone.

    The Director of Strategic Partnerships and Development is responsible for the creation and implementation of a strategic approach to fundraising that is inclusive of major gifts, corporate donations, grant solicitations and in-kind resources. He/she is also responsible for cultivating new relationships, overseeing existing relationships, and ensuring that onsite activation is successful during all Chicago Ideas programming.

    The position will oversee existing relationships by being the point of contact for all sponsors’ questions and needs and regularly meeting with and develop strong relationships with sponsors and prospects: this includes corporate, foundation and individual donors.

    In this role, the director will be responsible for regularly identifying new and innovative ways to refine the program to both elevate the platform and meet the needs of the organization’s funders. This can include refinement and refreshing of current programming of ideas around new initiatives the organization should consider.

    SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:

    • Architecting fundraising plans annually to meet the budgetary demands
    • Meeting with prospective and current donors
    • Building and negotiating partnership agreements
    • Sitting at the strategic table to develop new opportunities for the organization
    • Management of a three-member team, which includes the Director of Membership, Strategic Partners Manager and Coordinator.

    QUALIFICATIONS & REQUIREMENTS:

    • At least 10 years professional experience; Preffered 5-7 years demonstrated experience in the field of fundraising, sales or major gift development;
    • Commitment to the mission and values of Chicago Ideas;
    • Exemplary writing, speaking, and presentation skills;
    • A strong work ethic;
    • Experience managing a team;
    • Organizational skills, creativity, and initiative;
    • A degree in business, sales, marketing, or related field.
