Introducing Platforms in the Park, a city-wide initiative to empower, connect, inspire, and activate all of Chicago through local, community-led experiences.

To build on the momentum of The 77 Project, this summer, in partnership with Xfinity and in collaboration with the Chicago Park District, we’re presenting a brand-new experience. Kicking off in June and present until August, you'll find yellow platforms at 12 local parks* on the North, West, and South Sides of the city. Each platform will serve as a place for community members to participate in spontaneous performance, direct address, town hall-style meetings, and more. This is an opportunity for everyone to share their story, because sometimes all an idea needs is a platform.

Chicago Ideas will produce events in collaboration with community leaders and nonprofit organizations that will take place on platforms across the city, all summer long. Explore the parks, events (new events coming soon!), and subscribe to our mailing list to get updates.

Want to host an event on a platform this summer? Email your idea to so we can help you promote it here.

Special thanks to Chicago Ideas Brain Trust Member Wendy Abrams for her thought leadership and collaboration to bring this idea to life.

What does the future of Chicago look like? You tell us. Meet us at Ping Tom Park on July 24 from 5 to 7pm to share your vision for the city's future. Whether it's the next big restaurant, a new approach to community, a better way to get from A to B, or a way to make Chicago even greener—every idea matters, and we're giving yours a platform. Come show us what you got!

We'll be there capturing content for our new IGTV series "Ideas in the Park" and sharing it across our digital channels!

People will be slotted in on a first come, first served basis (but anyone can be heard!).
