Mary Zimmerman is a Chicago theatre writer and director whose works include The Arabian Nights, Journey to the West, Argonautika and The Odyssey. She is a 1998 recipient of the MacArthur "Genius" Fellowship and a 2002 Tony Award winner for her Metamorphoses on Broadway. Recently she has begun directing for the Metropolitan Opera. She is the Jaharis Professor of Performance Studies at Northwestern University.
