    Chester and Helen Siess Professor of Civil and Environmental Engineering, University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign

    Dr. Garcia is the Chester and Helen Siess Professor of Civil and Environmental Engineering at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign, and has served as Director of the Ven Te Chow Hydrosystems Laboratory in the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering since 1997. Together with his students, Prof. Garcia developed the first three-dimensional hydrodynamic and water quality model of the Chicago River and used it to explain the presence of density currents in the waterways.
