    Bill Stanley

Director, Collections Center, The Field Museum of Natural History

Bill Stanley coordinates a team committed to the growth, maintenance and accessibility of the collection of objects and specimens housed in the Field Museum and increasing their influence on our understanding and conservation of our world. Stanley's specialty is the mammal fauna of eastern Africa, where he grew up. Through a collaborative program to document the mammals of the mountains of Tanzania, Stanley has discovered several vertebrates new to science, including a new genus of monkey. Stanley recently produced the Tanzania Mammal Key, an innovative web-based tool, available in both English and Kiswahili that allows biologists to identify Tanzanian mammals.
