    Director, Against All Odds: The Fight for a Black Middle Class

    Bob Herbert is an acclaimed journalist and the Director & Executive Editor of Against All Odds: The Fight for a Black Middle Class, a PBS documentary feature. For nearly 20 years, he was an op-ed columnist for the New York Times, writing about politics, urban affairs and social trends. Prior to the Times, he was at the New York Daily News as a national correspondent, consumer affairs editor, city editor and eventually, a columnist and a member of the editorial board. In addition to his newspaper work, Herbert was a national correspondent for NBC News and is the author of Losing Our Way: An Intimate Portrait of a Troubled America. He currently moderates Bob Herbert’s, a weekly web series that focuses on compelling contemporary issues. In Against All Odds, he explores the heroic efforts of black families to pursue the American dream in the face of often-unrelenting barriers.
