    Julie Dash

    Award-Winning Filmmaker; Distinguished Professor, Spelman College

    Julie Dash is a filmmaker and professor of art and visual culture at Spelman College. She was the first African American woman to have a wide theatrical release of a feature film "Daughters of the Dust." Dash has written and directed for CBS, BET, ENCORE, STARZ, SHOWTIME, HBO, and OWN Television. She is the recipient of the Special Award at the 82nd New York Film Critics Circle and the Women & Hollywood Trailblazer Award, among other honors.
