    Kamau Murray

Founder, XS Tennis and Education Foundation

Kamau Murray is a tennis coach and the founder of the XS Tennis and Education Foundation, a free, after-school program that provides lessons to 2,000 students from 10 public schools in many of Chicago’s most impoverished neighborhoods. Since its founding in 2008, 100 percent of its graduating seniors have received college tennis scholarships to prestigious universities. He’s also behind the new XS Tennis Village is opening in November in Washington Park, only the third such facility to be built in a low-income area. In 2017, Murray became the second black coach to win a grand slam in the US Open's 95-year history when he coached Sloane Stephens to win her historic title.
