    Michaela Connery

Co-Founder, The Kelsey; Former BHSI Fellow

Inspired by her cousin Kelsey, Micaela has been working on inclusive community development her entire life. She is Founder and CEO of The Kelsey, a San Francisco based nonprofit that creates inclusive housing where individuals of all abilities and backgrounds live, play, and serve communities together and partners with organizations and entities who seek to do the same. In 2015, she published an internationally cited paper for the Harvard Joint Center for Housing Studies entitled Disability Housing: What's Happening, What's Challenging, What's Needed. Prior to the Kelsey, Micaela was the founder and CEO of Unified Theater, an organization she founded at age 15 that supports students of all abilities to create and lead inclusive arts programs in their communities. The organization serves students in over 100 schools today. Micaela completed her MPP at Harvard Kennedy School focusing on housing, disability inclusion, and community development. She was a Cheng Fellow at the Harvard Social Innovation and Change Initiative where she worked on designing The Kelsey. She received her MBA as a Mitchell Scholar in the Smurfit School at University College Dublin. She was a 2012 Chicago Ideas Week Bluhm Helfand Social Innovation Fellow.
