    Robert C. Bourge, M.D., is a professor of medicine, radiology and surgery, as well as the head of the Pulmonary Vascular Disease Clinic, at the University of Alabama–Birmingham (UAB). In 1988, Bourge established the UAB Pulmonary Vascular Disease Clinical and Research Program, a multi-disciplinary effort that has grown into one of the largest clinical pulmonary hypertension programs in the world. Bourge’s work centers on the evaluation of patients with pulmonary vascular diseases and the subsequent application of therapeutic approaches including general, medical, device-based and surgical methods to improve both quality of life and life expectancy.
