    Michelle McBride

    Director of Strategic Partnerships

    What inspires Michelle?

Adventurous travel, beautifully written novels, sweaty spin classes, invigorating yoga, The New York Times and a strong cup of coffee.

As Director of Strategic Partnerships at Chicago Ideas, Michelle is responsible for leading and developing all of our corporate and foundation partnerships and for regularly identifying new and innovative ways to refine the program to both elevate the platform and meet the needs of the organization’s members and funders.

Prior to joining Chicago Ideas Week, Michelle was the President of the Noreen Fraser Foundation (NFF), a national women’s cancer research foundation. She continues to serve as the chairwoman of its board of directors. At NFF, Michelle helped launch Stand up to Cancer, the groundbreaking initiative to accelerate innovative cancer research that united the major television networks to simultaneously air the star-studded Stand up to Cancer telethon. Michelle worked closely with Jerry Reinsdorf and Bud and Sue Selig to align Stand up to Cancer with Major League Baseball, a relationship that has raised tens of millions of dollars for cancer research and has engaged tens of millions of people in the fight.

Before her career in the non-profit sector, Michelle practiced law at one of Chicago’s premier plaintiffs’ litigation firms and served as an electronic discovery specialist at a global legal technology firm consulting on some of the country’s largest governmental investigations and lawsuits. Michelle has served as an advisor for several technology start ups and serves on several charitable boards including the Board of Trustees of the University of Chicago Cancer Research Foundation.
