    Julia Dilday

Project Manager for the Bluhm/Helfand Social Innovation Fellowship

    What inspires Julia?

Creative minds, pub trivia, “old school” pen and paper, and the Chicago Marathon finish line!

Julia is Project Manager for the Bluhm/Helfand Social Innovation Fellowship, searching for the world’s most talented and dynamic social entrepreneurs under 35.   An alum of The Oprah Winfrey Show, Oprah Prime, and Super Soul Sunday, she’s now a freelance media and events producer. Outside of Chicago Ideas, she works with Lisa Erspamer’s Happy Street Entertainment, where a highlight was the live kickoff for Starbucks’ 100,000 Opportunities Initiative, that will match 100,000 youth with meaningful employment by 2018. A recent fan of early mornings, she produces Chicago's morning yoga and dance party, DAYBREAKER, along with fellow Chicago Ideas team member, Mel Safford.    A California girl at heart, Julia hails from Long Beach, and earned her undergraduate degree at The University of California, Berkeley.  She first landed in the Midwest when she pursued her Master’s in Journalism from Northwestern University.  Eight years later, her love of unpredictable weather, incredible people, wild experiences and amazing food has her proudly calling the Windy City home.
