    Lindsay Knight

    Director of Community Engagement

What inspires Lindsay? Rule questioners, limit pushers, and kids with extra, untapped energy.

Bio: Lindsay has a Ph.D. in Political Science from the University of Chicago, and comes to Chicago Ideas after having spent eight years teaching and organizing youth—running the gamut from advising M.A. students on social science methodology and research, to teaching a hybrid of race and politics, and civic engagement to high schoolers on the South Side—and developing, managing, and evaluating programming across the non-profit, public, and private spectrum.

She is passionate about figuring out how the intersection of theory and practice best fit together, and has hands-on experience with the challenges posed by structural inequity, and behaviors and choice incentives within institutions and systems.

In her spare time, Lindsay races cyclocross and mountain bikes, writes the occasional article, is a mentor in the Institute of Politics’ Women in Public Service program at the University of Chicago, and an Advisory Board member at SXSWedu.
